I don't know what to make of this.

OBL 1min v part-time Ospreys then start v Toulon

Scott at 10, Goosen at 13, Freddy Douglas on the bench

Lang 10 cover over Thompson and Healy

Very unexpected but i like it.

Surprised at Thomson selection at 12 , ok he got MOM last week for being OK vs poor. We now have a centre partnership that has never played together . Bonkers !
We need experience in that role so Lang would have been my starter plus I would have kept Thompson as cover at 10 , unless he is injured that is no way to build / restore confidence of a talented player., especially a 10 . Not sure what agenda is at play here ?

Strong Toulon Team with very experienced Sinzelle and signs op Brex in centre with Garbisi in combination at 10. Kyle Sinckler and Lewis Ludlum will be a handful .

THat's a very strong Toulon lineup. As just posted our midfield trio will need to gel very quickly against Garbisi,Brex and Sinzelle. A risk with Goosen's first outing for us (I think in the centre) but frankly we needed something different from O'Connor and with both Currie and Tuipolotu out so far this season not many options left.Given Lang's been injured can understand him benching (and appears to be covering 10 and goalkicking as well.)
What a (proper) baptism of fire for OBL! Effectively not risked against a reserve Ospreys pack but now staring against the likes of Gros,Priso and Sinckler.

Good grief that is some team selection! I cant believe we get to this stage of the season facing our biggest game so far and have already decide that neither Thompson nor Healy are good enough, that O'Connor is worse at centre than our 15 who has never played there for Edinburgh, that a TH who is 19 and with all of 2 mins experience is good enough to start against Kyle Sinclair and that our best option for 12 is another youngster who has one start for the club.

I appreciate injuries might play a part but most teams will have a bit more depth at 10-12-13 than we have and would be happy to shift a 10 out to play 12 if required. We seem to have decided, somewhat belatedly, that neither Healy nor Thompson are good enough to make the squad at 10 let alone provide cover at 12!

It will be interesting to see what sort of role Healy or Thompson play for the club for the rest of this season given neither make the squad, with Lang being picked as back up 10 if required. Ditto O'Connor if a youngster and our regular FB are chosen before you in your chosen position. Absolute shambles of a squad!

I fear we will be on the receiving end of a big score on Sunday!

Pretty good match from both sides in SteveWalsh conditions.

Best edinburgh performance in a while but, again, utterly maddening that the same group produce that after lasts weeks SteveWalsh show.

McConnell, Patterson, Ashman i thought were excellent. Goosen looked much more like last season. Scott controlled the game well. Venter a beast shame he didnt quite get SQ'd, OBL proving that he is ready for pro rugby.

Would question bench selection again, i know last minute change but if Sheil amd Thompson are only injury cover they are wasted £...which could have been thrown ben whites way.

Dont understand why Edinburgh dont appear to have no plan to make use of Duhan on short balls particularly in conditions like tonight.

Focus on the positives! Happy with the result and majority of performance.

JUst absolutely tremendous from everyone. You could just see the confidence oozing out of them (very un-Scottish!).
Big shout outs to Scott,OBl,Paterson,Lang and MacConnell in particular.
Pity about Finn Thomsom pulling but woprked in our favour as Lang was outstanding and gave another valuable kicking option in those awful conditions./
Only worries are Paterson injured again. And Sykes looks to have an arm issue so suspect likely won't see either at Castres.

Thomson was picked this week simply because he was our best player last time out. The youngsters on display today proved again they are worth their places over the older guys who have failed to deliver year in year out.

The frustration is that Edinburgh can play like they did today, a performance full of heart and dogged determination and no little skill in atrocious conditions

I hope we reward the performances and stick with the youngsters next week and in the 1872 games

I'm busy eating some humble pie!

Team played well in atrocious conditions which suited us more than Toulon I think? The forwards really took it to Toulon and for long periods dominated them.OBL held up the scrum well only conceding one penalty, the experience will do him a power of good. McConnell showed he is a huge prospect and I love how he plays with a smile on his face, he just looks like a young guy having fun with his mates on the back pitches! Everyone in the pack came away with plus marks and a special mention for GC who played a huge game.

Scott looked like the 10 we have been badly missing and controlled the game well. It was a shame about the young guy Thomson not making the game but Lang showed what we needed at 12 and it was a relief to see him starting. It was never a game for the back 3 who spent the whole night fielding kicks but Darcy looked like he was carrying an injury? Patterson can hopefully get an injury free run now - although he did come off injured?

Castres might be a bit different next week and we struggle with any depth in our squad, particularly in the backs, so fingers crossed everyone is fit for next week.

Yes Paterson subbed on 55 mins.Certainly noticed earlier he'd hurt his so obviously tried but failed to run it off.Just gets no luck with injuries.A huge pity as I thought that-despite already having a few Scotland caps-he really came of age last night.Best performance in an Edinburgh jersey showing tremendous strength going forward, huge boot and just some nice slick touches. If he could actually stay fit long enough he could really challenge Kinghorn for the national 15 spot.

Between feeling rough after the flu jab, looking at the weather we watched on telly rather than attending, wrong move the win and the atmosphere might have made me feel better. Tremendous performance by all and gives me more hope for next week which we will attend come hell or high water.
Team just clicked. Nuff said.
Hoping any injuries are not serious.
