Hibs is a hybrid pitch IIRC and if they don't go up will be desperate for money. We've also played there previously.

Doubt hearts will play at murrayfield, they've already started selling ST's

Oh I hope so! That would free up £250k plus leave Stern to get on with his work with Wagga as part of his team.

Easter Road is too small for rugby is it not? Cant see us playing there if Murrayfield is available, even with the Jambos playing there, we spend all that AlainRolland money on a pitch for AlainRolland sake!

Anyone else get a feeling that there is a lot of turmoil behind closed doors in ER and SRU? Bit of a power struggle going on? Just hope it doesn’t stop us re-sigining existing and signing new players. Next year is make or break and we need a strong squad.

That's John Davidson the Edinburgh Rugby Chairman rather than Jonathan Humphreys the useless Welsh forwards coach.

Pretty sure that's an honorary chair, no savings from that position going!

If you read the newspaper articles the Hearts move would be the season after next (16/17)

Thanks :)

That is a pretty damning article. Can't help wondering if the farce over partner's travel arrangements contributed to our no show for the first 30 mins against Gloucester.

Depressing reading that once again ER have shot themselves in the foot. Davies was clearly out of his depth and for that Dodson must carry the can. The dismissal of trusted employees has left a sour taste and despite some encouraging signs under AS, going forward to 2015/16 its difficult to see a narrative that will encourage players to play and fans to support ER.
How grounded the Easter Rd story is I'm not sure. Dont think BT would be happy that the team might not playing in the arena that bares its name and wonder if there is a clause in BT contract tying ER to BTM? Perhaps those in the know could enlighten us?
Again one can only cast an enviable eye westward to see how a pro team can be run and grown.
The loss of World 7's is on Dodson's watch and the downgrading that will surely follow can only impact once again on our small pro pool. Cant see him surviving post World Cup. The wagons are circling

Even if only some of that article were true (and I'm not saying that I think any parts of it are untrue) it's pretty damning. A lot of that stuff would be unacceptable for an amateur/semi-pro team, but at pro team level, it's unforgivable.

Good riddance by the sounds of it.

No-one out here will know the whys and wherefores of all this. All I will say is there must be more to it than meets the eye. I've got loads of time for him, but one article by Mr Ferguson is unlikely to bring the Berlin Wall crashing down by itself. But I see this as just the latest in a long line of false starts off the park at Edinburgh Rugby, which are one reason why the club has underachieved over the years and is some way off its potential. There have been some impressive CEOs over the years but they have never been around long enough to develop a strategy and implement it. It would be interesting to know what the turnover of management is in the Irish provinces, for example.

Hopefully the SRUI will take their time, make a long-term appointment and give the successful candidate the freedom to get on with the job.

I can understand the points folk make about Mr Dodson, but I think that's overdone. We are in a much better place than we were under the McKie regime and much of that is down to him.

He was well respected as a player and knows what players are like, so at the very least hopefully he wont go upsetting the current group as Davies appeared to.

Glad we finally have someone in place, now the signing and contract extention news can start to flow!

I've no idea if JP will be any good as managing director but three things stand out for me -
1) He's Scottish!
2) He's a real rugby man who knows the game as well as having relevant commercial experience.
3) Many moons ago as a student he used to give me a lift to and from North Mids U21 training and he's an absolutely great guy, serious top bloke!

Really hope it works out both for Johnny and Edinburgh as on paper this has all the makings of a great appointment!
